Financial Support

The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help students overcome the specific financial barriers to participation and will target funds to help the students in greatest need so they can remain in education.

There are 2 different funds which are available to students, which are:

1. Vulnerable Student Bursaries
Students will qualify for this bursary if they fall into one of the following categories: young people in care, care leavers, young people in receipt of income support of universal credit or disabled young people in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payments (PIP) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA). The student must be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August before that academic year to qualify.

Where students fall into this category, they are entitled to a flat rate bursary of £1,200 of which the payment terms will be agreed on an individual basis with the Head of Football College and the student.

Students must provide official confirmation of their qualification for a Vulnerable Student Bursary, for example a letter from the local authority or a letter from the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) stating which benefit the young person is entitled to. Please note students cannot self-certify.

2. Discretionary Fund (known as a "bursary")
Everton Football College will operate a discretionary payment system for specific educational purposes. Eligibility will be determined via this formal application. Eligibility for the bursary is based on gross annual household income and the family circumstances (students seeking support from the discretionary fund are given priority where the household income is below £16,190). Free School Meals from Year 11 is not an automatic acceptance for bursary; students must apply for the bursary in Year 12 and re-apply in Year 13.

Any student meeting general eligibility requirements and facing financial hardship due to exceptional reason or circumstance change can apply to access the hardship fund on an individual basis by submitting an application.

Qualifying condition requirements
Eligible students will need to complete a qualifying learning period of 6 weeks before they are able to receive Bursary support, however, applications should be submitted in full by the deadline of 1st October.  New students to Everton Football College may submit an application on admission and approval will be subject to funding availability.

All students in receipt of a Bursary must meet weekly punctuality and attendance requirements of 95% to ensure continued support. In addition, students in receipt of a Bursary must behave appropriately and submit work of an appropriate level and to required deadlines. If a student does not meet these conditions, Everton Football College reserves the right to withdraw or suspend Bursary support.

Please contact studentsupport@evertonfootballcollege.com for an application form.

Scholarship Programme

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for future and current students of Everton Football College to apply for the Everton College Scholarship programme.

Designed to support and inspire a future generation of leaders, thinkers and/or outstanding performers within sport, the Scholarship programme offers academic and sport scholarships to students applying for a two-year A Level or BTEC programme at Everton Football College. They are supported and sponsored by a variety of employers, universities and sport organisations, all of whom understand the importance of nurturing and rewarding the talent of outstanding students and performers within the Liverpool City region. The sponsors will act as mentors for our scholarship students and offer advice and guidance or valuable work experience if desired.

Scholarships are available up to the monetary value of £800 per academic year at the college's discretion. Scholarships commence in September with the application process open during the preceding academic year. Once a Scholarship has been awarded, it is held until the student leaves the college subject to maintaining the necessary standard.

Academic Support

Our students benefit from course tutors and a tutorial programme which supports their learning. In addition, we use Firefly (our virtual learning platform) to support the work that we do. We recognise that a personalised approach to learning is necessary for some students which we accommodate where possible with bespoke learning plans. We have a SENCO to support those learners with additional learning needs and our staff are highly trained to teach all students regardless of prior achievement and attainment.

Health & Wellbeing

Our RHSE programme supports health and wellbeing covering topics and providing room for discussion around mental health, health and lifestyle and social issues that are topical and relevant to our students. All students are allocated a personal tutor who is available for any support needed. In addition, our student experience manager works closely with the team to identify any problems arising to support all students.

Our college nurse works closely with us on all aspects of health and wellbeing. We also have access to our educational psychologist for any students who need extra support and help.
