At Everton Football college we support a holistic approach to our education and coaching. We encourage each student to be the best they can be and support them to build the skills, qualities and awareness they need to become successful with their future goals and to become valuable citizens’, ready for life and the challenges and opportunities that this may bring. Embedded into all we do are enrichment opportunities that enhance the learning environment and develop all our students and players.
We embed numeracy and Literacy into all that we do, these are essential skills for students to be able to keep up with current events, communicate effectively, and understand the issues that are shaping our world. These skills are needed in the world of sport to solve problems, use teamwork effectively and understand tactics and analysis of football for example. We work with the Spirit Foundation to promote reading throughout the college and actively encourage through our twitter account the reading/listening of relevant podcasts, documentaries and articles. This supports learning in the classroom and on the football field.
Our students have the option to undertake optional qualifications to support their learning and UCAS/Scholarship/employment applications. We actively encourage initiatives from the FA and other sport organisations for our students to gain experience and qualifications and offer FA Level 1 and 2 qualifications, Leader Awards and other relevant courses.
Some students choose to follow the Duke of Edinburgh qualification alongside their studies. The college has an excellent relationship with this organisation. It builds student confidence and self esteem and allows them to have the opportunity to achieve extra ordinary things enhancing life experiences outside of the classroom.
Relationships & Health Education and British Values are embedded into our college life. We actively promote through our approach the fundamental values for students to be citizens’ in a modern and diverse Great Britain valuing their community and celebrating the diversity of the UK. Our learning and coaching environment is inclusive where individual students feel safe, valued and understand that they can contribute for the good of themselves and others. We use the School Nurse & the Brooke Clinic to assist us in the delivery of our PSHE programme which runs through all aspects of our college and through our curriculum delivery providing students with the help and advice they may need as young adults in todays society.
