College Role: Head of English
I am Curriculum Leader for English here at Everton Football College. I began my teaching career in 2008 when I graduated from Edge Hill University with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Secondary English. Prior to this I completed my BA in English at Liverpool Hope University. My teaching career has provided me with great experience in several mainstream schools across Knowsley, Sefton and Liverpool until I was lucky enough to gain the post of Teacher of English at Everton.
A year later, I began my role as Curriculum Leader and since then I have been enjoying my role within a busy and exciting English department. My experience includes teaching and mentoring students who have English as a second language, one to one tuition and teaching students with SEN; I am also qualified as a Curriculum Mentor for Trainee Teachers.
In April 2020 I completed the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) and I am also Staff Governor for Everton Football College. It is an honour and a privilege to be able to teach English to students each and every day; to be able to watch them gain confidence in their writing and enjoy reading and Literature is every English Teacher’s dream and being a part of this makes me feel very lucky indeed.
