NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing & Level 2 Award in Circuit Training
This level 2 gym instructing course is a prerequisite for working in a gym environment. It covers the basic units needed to gain employment within this industry. It covers content such as basic anatomy and physiology, dealing with customers and clients, conducting gym inductions and planning, instructing, and reviewing gym-based exercise programmes. The course combines theory with practical knowledge. You will be expected to undertake the equivalent to a one day a week (maybe evening/weekends) work-based placement as part of the course to put your knowledge into practice.
You will also have the opportunity to gain a L2 Award in Circuit Instructing.
Typically, students also resit GCSE English and/or maths alongside this qualification.
You will be assessed through a portfolio-based folder, containing all the core knowledge you need to deliver sessions, including evidence of taking part in practical and class-based activities. You need to demonstrate an interest in working within the fitness industry and a commitment to work experience. You will be based in college for two to three days each week. You will need a flexible approach to studying as you may be required to undertake work based learning during evenings or weekends.
Studying this qualification is ideal if you want to work within the fitness industry. It is an essential qualification for employment within a gym. Students who successfully complete this course typically continue their studies to complete specialist fitness qualifications such as cycling, kettle bells, aerobics, personal training qualifications and so on.
3 GCSE Grades 3 or D grade
An appropriate Level 1 Qualification and maths & English Language Grade 3 or functional Skills equivilent.
