BTEC NQF Level 3 Foundation Diploma Sport (An initial 1-year course with possible extension to a 2-year Extended Diploma)
This is the initial year of a 2-year extended diploma. You may leave after one year with this qualification (equivalent to 1.5 A Levels) upon successful completion of the course or progress to year 2 of study (Extended Diploma). Most students progress to year 2 of study.
Students will complete a programme including 7 core and optional units. A variety of sport subjects are studied to gain a general overview of the world of sport. They may include topics such as Anatomy & Physiology, Fitness Training, Testing, Sport Coaching & Leadership and Practical Sport. You may be able to study for additional qualifications such as FA Level 1 Football Coach and Duke of Edinburgh alongside this qualification. Embedded within the course is football coaching and playing in order for you to enhance your practical skills and experience.
All units are assessed with an overall grade of Pass, Merit or distinction. Students are expected to complete the learning hours and work for each unit. 2 units are externally assessed via formal National examination taken in the summer term and 5 units are internally assessed through coursework and external verification. You may be assessed in the following ways: Written assignments and reports, examinations, presentations, practical assessment and the delivery of coaching sessions.
Year 2 Extended Diploma
5 GCSE Grades 4/C and above including maths and English Language
An appropriate Level 2 Qualification within sport and maths & English Language grade 4/c or above.
You will be required to purchase training kit/uniform.
